Tim Wiseman joined the administration at East Carolina University (ECU) to develop, implement and sustain the university’s enterprise risk management (ERM) program. Mr. Wiseman leads ECU’s effort to recognize, measure and assess business risk from an enterprise-wide perspective. Hired in July of 2009, Mr. Wiseman assists in the establishment of effective monitoring and control measures, and advises senior administration officials on risk considerations for strategic decision-making. Mr. Wiseman earned the Associate in Risk Management – Enterprise Risk Management (ARM-E) designation in 2012, is a certified defense financial manager (RET), with a B.S. in business administration from the University of Arkansas, an MBA from Syracuse University, and a MS in national resource strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

Mr. Wiseman joined the ECU staff during a period of increased emphasis on oversight, stewardship, governance, regulatory compliance and accountability both within the UNC university system and in the corporate business sector. A recognized ERM practitioner in higher education, Mr. Wiseman has recently made presentations at various enterprise risk management conferences and forums to include the Federal Enterprise Risk Management Summit in Washington D.C. and the Association of Government Accountants professional development conference. Prior to entering the risk management field, Tim served in various command and staff positions for 26 years as a finance officer and resource manager in the U.S. Army.
